Problem:
The light turns on, but works without
heat
Solution:
There are three possible things you can try for this Hotpoint dryer
repair.
To properly diagnose most of these problems, you will need a multimeter (part #DM10T).
Check to see if the dryer is plugged in and if there is the right amount of power going to the dryer. There should be 240 volts to the dryer and 110 volts on each leg.
Next, check the fuse to make sure it has continuity. If it is good, check the heating element on your unit and make sure it doesn’t have any breaks or blisters and it has continuity.
If those check out good, then check the Thermostat to make sure it has continuity. If not, replace it.
