GE Washing Machine
Problem:
Washing machine does not agitate
Solution:
Older styles of GE washing machines have a drive block or
coupling that hold the agitator down to the transmission. If this part
wears it will not hold the agitator in place correctly and it will not agitate.
On new style of GE washers, they have a bell housing inside the agitator that is bolted to the transmission shaft. The bell housing connects with the bottom of the agitator; if the grooves that connect them wear out then the agitator will not agitate properly. Usually, just the bell housing needs to be replaced, however, if the grooves on the agitator broke then it will need to be replaced also.
